I don’t know if they are exactly 5000 in number, but the creatures at Pattaya’s aquarium are colourful and fascinating for sure. Walk through more than 105 metres of clear acrylic tunnels, watching exquisite sea creatures glide and swish around you.

The marine life here is drawn from the Gulf of Thailand.

It’s interesting to observe how some of these creatures lie death-still and can barely be spotted, thanks to their colour camouflage skills.

You enter a world of shores, sandy beaches and rocky rapids, similar to a retreat on a private island.

Snakes alive! You never really know what extraordinary sight might greet you at the Underwater World, and that is its appeal.

As you’ll discover, the aquarium has three zones: the Coral Reef Zone, Shark and Stingray Zone and Giant of Siam Zone. What I loved best were the Jellyfish, quivering delicately—it is the biggest collection and display of jellyfish in Thailand.

At the Touch Pool Zone, there are rack pool creations from coastal area around Thailand, and you can feed colourful fish here. Set aside at least an hour and a half to take it all in; more if you are a true blue lover of marine life. Don’t forget to stop by and buy something at the lovely souvenir shop.
