Recently, we were invited to check out Holiday Inn, Chennai OMR IT Expressway, a brand new business hotel in Chennai. Conveniently located in the heart of the IT corridor on Rajiv Gandhi IT Expressway, also known as Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR), Holiday Inn Chennai OMR IT Expressway is easily accessible to the city and just 13 kms away from the Chennai International Airport.

The large and luxurious lobby set the tone for a pleasant experience ahead. The staff greeted us with smiles. A grand piano stood in the heart of the lobby—so guess what I did while awaiting check in?

If you’re looking for panoramic views of Chennai, then this is the right place! The hotel boasts dozens of windows that look out to the city, as well as the IT corridor of Chennai.

With brands such as Holiday Inn, you arrive with certain expectations—Comfortable rooms, great food, efficient service. This property fulfills them all.

The Room

This is a 202-room property with nine floors. Our room was on the fourth floor, just above the three restaurants—Cafe G, The Bar and Score.

The styling of my room was quite typically like that of business hotels. It had two comfortable twin beds, a large desk and a sofa. The bathroom was quite nice; covered in white marble and awash in light (though we did have a little mishap—the shower curtain fell while I was getting ready.)

The Food

The breakfast buffet was laid out at Cafe G on the second floor. We enjoyed a lavish continental breakfast, afternoon snacks and beverages as well as evening tea and coffee here.

The food is quite extensive – they offer a large selection of continental and regional cuisine. The dahi bhalla was better than some we’ve eaten in North India! The idli sambhar and vadas, expectedly, delicious. Special mention: Red velvet cake! I looked forward to the breakfast all three days of my stay.

We attended the launch party at their banquet on the 1 st Floor. The event had a great turn out. We participated in some fun activities they had planned for us.

On our last day, we had an early morning return flight, and the restaurant staff thoughtfully packed doughnuts and fruits for us!

The full-length windows in the gym overlooked the city. It was such a refreshing sight in the morning.

The swimming pool and the bar are expected to open soon.

Throughout our stay, the staff were very kind. The stay was smooth and what I would expect from such a well-known brand. We were also able to capture some photos of the city.

Verdict: The Holiday Inn Chennai OMR IT Expressway is a splendid property. The hotel is large and offers lots of space for events, especially for business travellers. Our stay went off without a hitch, and we can highly recommend the hotel!
