What started as “La Pizzeria,” a small pizza house in Pune is now a nationwide chain spread across 17 major cities in India. I recently ate at the outlet in my hometown, Jaipur.
Centrally located in the city, the restaurant has a simple but comfortable feel. The extensive menu includes Mexican dishes and first-rate Italian desserts. If you prefer the familiar stuff, they have plenty of Indian options, too.
I ordered Lasagna Alla Napoletana (pasta layered with béchamel sauce and sprinkled with basil, mozzarella and ricotta cheese) and wood-fired Rustic Pizza.
The lasagna had thin pasta sheets with rich, creamy layers while the pizza had a crispy crust, layered with spicy tomato sauce and topped with grilled veggies and zesty herbs. I ended my meal with a light and luscious Panna Cotta pudding. The staff knew their menu well and were quick on their feet.
There’s a lounge bar attached, so you can kick back a beer or two along with your pizza. While every other restaurant now lists Italian as their speciality, Little Italy actually manages to deliver the authentic flavours and taste of Italy. A bit expensive but totally worth it!
