If visiting the Wild West has always been your dream, then you must visit the Indian counterpart – the Rann of Kutch. Ever since the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer commercial of Gujarat Tourism ‘Kutch nahi dekha to kuch nahi dekha’ (If you haven’t seen Kutch, you haven’t seen anything), the Rann of Kutch has received a lot of tourist attraction.
Rann of Kutch is in reality a huge area of salt marshes, which because of its colour looks very similar to an endless expanse of snow. In fact, these salt marshes are the largest in the entire world.
To celebrate the colourful and lively culture of Gujarat, the Rann of Kutch organises the Rann Utsav every year. This 3-month long festival starts in November and continues till the end of February. During this festival, you can see the white desert adorned with colourful decorations and tents for visitors to stay in.
When you partake in the Rann Utsav, your entertainment options include a variety of folk dance and music performances. Beautiful handicraft items are on sale by the local artisans. Do remember to buy dairy sweets and enjoy a camel ride during the Utsav.
